This tour take you to the most important places in the northern Peru, covering Lima, Trujillo and the largest adobe city of Chan Chan, Chiclayo with the Lord of Sipan, , Cajamarca and the Thermal Baths, Chachapoyas and Kuelap.
Day 1 - Lima: Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 - Lima and Trujillo: Pachacamac: After breakfast, we take a 45-minute drive to the ancient pre-Columbian Pachacamac Pilgrimage Centre overlooking the fertile Valley of Lurin and the Pacific Ocean. Built around 700 AD, as a temple for worshipping the Sun God, the complex is mostly constructed from mud bricks or adobe. The Temple housed an oracle and is considered as one of the main ceremonial centers of pre-Hispanic Peru. Pilgrims flocked here from far and wide to worship Pachacamac, believed to be the Creator of the World and all of its creatures. The best preserved area is the Inca-built section (1440-1533). The archaeological site includes palaces, plazas and temples, that have been recently restored, and an on-site Museum housing interesting pre-Hispanic relic. Lunch and return to your hotel. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Trujillo. Reception and transfer to your hotel. Explore Trujillo, the third largest city in Peru, at your own leisure.(Breakfast)
Day 3 - Chan Chan: After breakfast we will visit the largest adobe Archaeological Complex of pre-Hispanic America, Chan Chan, ancient Capital of the Chimu Empire (13th Century), visiting the Templo del Arco Iris (Rainbow), the Site Museum and the Tshudi Palace. We will proceed to Huanchaco Beach, well frequented by beach-goers and surfers, where you will have the opportunity to appreciate the local fishermen surfing the waves in their traditional "Caballitos de Totora", Totora reed boats used for fishing since pre Inca times by Northern Peruvians. Day 4 - Chiclayo museums: Short journey in private car (2 hours 30 minutes approx.) en route we will visit the Archaeological Complex of El Brujo (the Shaman) containing three large buildings constructed in different eras: Huaca Prieta, the oldest construction on the Peruvian Coast; Huaca El Brujo, a Pyramid from the Mochica Culture and Huaca Cao Viejo, with an old Christian Church. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. After Lunch Trip to the wonderful Brunning museum, housing artefacts from several cultures. the Sipan and Sican museums. The day concludes with a visit to the Tucume complex, where over 26 pyramids are located. Return to your hotel. (Breakfast and Lunch)
Day 5 - Cajamarca: After Breakfast long journey by bus to Cajamarca. Reception and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour visiting the Cathedral, the Main square, the Church of San Francisco, and the Rescue Room, that was filled with pieces of gold and silver by order of Inca Atahualpa to obtain his freedom form the Spanish conquerors. (Breakfast)
Day 6 - Cumbemayo: Full day excursion to Cumbemayo, some 20 km outside of the town and the site of ancient, pre-inca channels engraved into the mountainside. The ducts were built by the old Cajamarca culture. Return to Cajamarca. (Breakfast and Lunch)
Day 7 - Otuzco: Day of leisure to enjoy the town, famous for in 1532, Pizarro imprisoned and subsequently executed Inca Atahualpa, bringing to an end the Inca Nation. A chance to visit the thermal baths at Banos del Inca. Optional visit to the pre-Inca graveyards of Otuzco, carved into the hillside and dating back to over 1000BC (Breakfast and Dinner)
Day 8 - Chachapoyas: After breakfast, bus journey to Chachapoyas, the capital of the Amazonas department. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. (Breakfast)
Day 9 - Lamud: A full day's tour starting in the valley of Utcubamba heading towards the village of Lamud. From here, at a distance, you can see the standing mud coffins of Lamud decorated with anthropomorphic reliefs and with feline paws and human heads. The Sachapuyans, after placing the coffins in these strategic locations on the cliffs, destroyed the paths which led to them thus avoiding any disturbance of their dead. After lunch return to Chachapoyas (Breakfast and Lunch)
Day 10 - Kuelap: Early departure from Chachapoyas to Tingo. Ascent to the ruins of Kuelap the huge fortress dominating the skyline above the Amazonas landscape and hailed as the Machu Picchu of Northern Peru. To get a good view of the whole complex a climb to the Kuelap watch-tower where the gigantic outer walls and the whole extension of this former fortress can be fully appreciated. In the afternoon return to Tingo and then to Chachapoyas (Breakfast)
Day 11: Chiclayo: After breakfast, return to Chiclayo by bus. Reception and transfer to the hotel. (Breakfast)
Day 12 - Piura: Trip to Piura, the most northerly city in Peru. Reception and transfer to your hotel. City tour of Piura, the first Peruvian city established by the colonizing Spanish (Breakfast and Lunch)
Day 13 - Catacaos: Day trip to Catacaos, the artisan capital of Northern Peru. Splendid opportunity to observe gold and silver jewels being crafted by the local artisans (Breakfast)
Day 14 - Sechua: A visit to Sechua, just south of Piura and home to one of the driest deserts in the world. Visit to nearby Lake Napique, home to many flamingos and other bird species. Transfer to the airport for the return flight back to Lima. (Breakfast)
Day 15 - Lima: Leisurely day with plenty of opportunity for shopping before your transfer to the airport and your return flight home.
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS $2,069.00: This includes all meals from Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, accommodations as stated in the itinerary, domestic airfare, ground transportation during the tour, and guide services provided by our guide. It does not include airfare from your home to Lima and return, airport departure taxes, alcoholic beverages, special gratuities, phone calls, laundry, or items of a personal nature. Rates are based upon group tariffs; if the tour does not have sufficient registration, a small-party supplement may have to be charged.
The single supplement for this tour is $517. You will be charged a single supplement if you desire single accommodations.
TOUR REGISTRATION: To register for this tour, complete the Tour registration form and return it with a deposit of $500 per person. If registering by phone, the deposit must be received within 10 days or the space will be released. Full payment of the tour fee is due 60 days prior to the tour departure date.
