Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Lima - Cusco
Arrival and transfer to the selected hostal.

Day 2: Lima - Cusco
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital. Reception and transfer to the international hostelling lodge. In the afternoon a self guided tour of Cuzco on foot. Places to visit include the cathedral, Qoricancha temple. Return to the hostal.

Day 3: Trek Briefing
Prior to departing for the trek, meet for an orientation briefing by your guide, who reviews in detail the packing list, the details of the route and many other issues of the upcoming trek. You have the remainder of the day to visit the museums and colonial sites that have tempted you during your city tour of the previous day.

Days 4-7: Inca Trail
This is the classic four-day trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. This magnificent hike is for travelers who are in condition to hike up to ten hours, with breaks, in a single day. The pace may be daunting for some, but the beauty and history of the area surround the hiker every step of the way. On the last morning, arrive at Machu Picchu with plenty of time to explore the ruins before returning to Cusco by train.

Day 8: Free Day in Cusco
Leisure day to enjoy Cusco on your own.

Days 9-11: Tambopata Jungle Adventure
Transfer from hotel to the cusco airport for your flight to Tambopata Jungle. Located deep in Peru's Tambopata National Reserve, your Sandoval Lake lodge overlooks sparkling, palm-rimmed Sandoval Lake, the most beautiful and wildlife-rich of all lakes in Tambopata-Madidi. This privileged location gives you exclusive access to the lake in the early morning and late afternoon, the choice hours for wildlife viewing and photography. Last day: After a dawn breakfast take a final, shorter paddle around the west end of the lake to try and glimpse the Giant Otters before returning to Puerto Maldonado to catch the flight to Lima and back home.
