Your culinary experience can start in the morning for a lunch cooking class. At around 10am, depending of your choice, your professional guide will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco and take you to San Pedro market, the city’s biggest and most famous.
You’ll have a very colorful and unique experience. Your guide will show some of the local products Peru has to offer. Become familiar with different varieties of corn and potatoes, their uses, and the stories behind their names.
After exploring the market, you will head to an Andean kitchen and Chicheria, where you will learn about the making of chicha, a traditional corn beer that dates back to Inca times. Next, learn of the native fruits found in Peru including lúcuma, chirimoya, granadilla, pacay, pepino, aguaymanto and many more. Try these deliciously flavored exotic fruits and learn of their many health benefits.
As an introduction to Cusco cooking class will be a pisco sour lesson. You will learn to make this famous Peruvian national drink and taste it as well. Afterward, it will be time for your culinary experience to begin. Depending on your choice of lunch or dinner, you will start with a local Peruvian appetizer. For lunch, you’ll make ceviche, typically made from raw fish cured in citrus juices, such as lemon or lime, and spiced with chili peppers, another option trout with quinua crusted (andean rice) or Alpaca Grilled or another choices we have foryou.
With a professional chef guiding you, you’ll learn to prepare one of the most representative and delicious Peruvian main courses. Lunch will include Ají de Gallina, a traditional chicken stew in a spicy, nutty cheese sauce. The choice for dinner will be lomo saltado with quinotto.
To put the cherry on top of the cake, the last step of the class will be a typical Peruvian dessert. You can try baby bananas with Pisco and Aguaymanto fruit, if your choice is the lunch class. For dinner, dessert will be cheese ice cream.
